INDIGO RIVER
upcycle denim project
In this project my main idea is the river water which is used by textile companies. While creating my design I focused on a river map and created fabric manipulations. I also used burnt denim for skirt.
Water is the of the basic needs for human life. We need water to survive but every year tons of water is wasted. The textile industry is one of the biggest problem for water pollution and we live in a frenzy of over-consumption unaware of what consequences this will have. In textile industry lots of water is used from the beginning to the end of the processes such as washing, bleaching, dyeing and end products washing. In addition rivers, lakes are also used as resources in textile factories and companies do not hesisate to pollute the water and the environment for their own benefit. Denim is a textile branch with one of the highest levels of water consumption and pollution. The innocent denim, which are an indispensable part of almost every person’s wardrobe nowadays come from an ever-growing, infallible industry which doesn’t seem to understand or is choosing to neglect the massive scale of damage it is causing to rivers and now it's time to say STOP!
